We have been providing a homecare service to Alice for the past 5 years’. Her mother Pat has vascular dementia and can’t be left on her own at any time. Alice is her main carer, which has put a lot of demands on her time.
Before Alice received our service she was feeling trapped, isolated, sad and scared. As well as caring for her mother, Alice also care’s for her daughter who has mental health problems. This has had an impact on Alice’s own health which resulted in her suffering from high blood pressure and depression.
Since having our Homecare service, she has been able to remain in work to support her daughter and too socialise with her friends and she has joined a choir.
Alice has built a strong relationship with her care support workers and this has given her piece of mind that her mother is being well looked after and is safe when Alice is not with her. This has had positive effect on Alice’s health as she no longer has to take medication or is suffering from blood pressure.
Help for Carers has eased the pressure on Alice, and has reduced her caring duties, overall this has helped to reduce Alice’s health issues and has made her more independent and she feels less isolated as she rekindles her interest and hobbies.
